A special Guest Speaker, Professor John Wells, joined us in Kochi to share his technique for Teaching English Intonation.
Professor Wells is a Professor of Phonetics at University College London and is President of the International Phonetic Association.

We are very fortunate to welcome Professor Wells, a distinguished international expert in pronunciation, who will give a presentation on the teaching of intonation. Guests are very welcome to this event and are sure to improve their skills in the teaching of intonation and pronunciation.
John Wells is Professor of Phonetics at University College London and former Head of the Department of Phonetics and Linguistics. His interests centre on the phonetic and phonological description of languages but also extend to lexicography and language teaching.
He directs UCL’s annual Summer Course in English Phonetics and is a frequent contributor to BBC radio. Based in Britain at UCL throughout his career, he has given invited lectures in many countries around the world. His presentation will describe his own new simplified model to help teachers and students identify and use intonation patterns.
